USA vs Jamaica Preview

The 17th edition of this biennial international soccer tournament is being held June 24 through July 16, hosted by Canada and the United States. Team USA are the defending champs after winning two years ago in 2021.

The Group Stage kicks things off with four groups of four teams each. The groups are as follows:

Group A
United States
Jamaica
Trinidad and Tobago
Saint Kitts and Nevis

Group B
Mexico
Haiti
Honduras
Qatar

Group C
Costa Rica
Panama
El Salvador
Martinique

Group D
Canada
Guatemala
Cuba
Guadeloupe

Then starting on July 8 is the Knockout Phase which features the top two teams from each group. The winner of Group A plays the runner-up of Group D, the winner of Group B plays the runner-up of Group C, the winner of Group C plays the runner-up of Group B and the winner of Group D plays the runner-up of Group A.

The four winning teams advance to the semifinals on July 12 and then the finals are held in Inglewood, California on July 16.

Team USA is coming off a CONCACAF Nations League victory just a week ago where they beat Mexico 3-0 in the semifinals and Canada 2-0 in the finals. This is the fifth CONCACAF Gold Cup in a row where Team USA has met Jamaica; they hold a 6-1-0 record in that time. And while Jamaica has historically had a good national soccer team, they have been struggling in recent years. The team is 0-5-5 in its last 10 matches.

However, several of Team USA’s top players will not be in the Gold Cup roster because they were on the roster for the Nations League cup last week. Interim manager BJ Callaghan has chosen mostly American-based players for the Gold Cup roster, meaning Christian Pulisic, Falorin Balogun, Timothy Weah, Gio Reyna and Ricardo Pepi are all out. Only five players are competing in the Gold Cup for Team USA after competing in the Nations League cup: goalkeepers Matt Turner and Sean Johnson, defender Miles Robinson, midfielder Alan Soñora, and midfielder/forward Alex Zendejas. So with that in mind, Jamaica could be looking to pull an upset on the USMNT that largely consists of Major League Soccer players.

The rest of the roster is as follows:

GK Gabriel Slonina
DF DeAndre Yedlin
DF Aaron Long
DF Matt Miazga
DF Bryan Reynolds
DF DeJuan Jones
DF Jalen Neal
DF John Tolkin
MF Gianluca Busio
MF James Sands
MF Djordje Mihailovic
MF Cristian Roldan
MF Aidan Morris
FW Jesus Ferreira
FW Cade Colwell
FW Jordan Morris
FW Brandon Vasquez
FW Julian Gressel

The USA vs Jamaica soccer match for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup airs Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time on Fox Sports 1 and TUDN.

The 19-year-old recently told J.J. Redick on the former NBA star’s podcast “The Old Man and the Three” that he didn’t feel pressured to live up to anyone’s expectations.

“No, I don’t feel any pressure on my shoulders, and I think the reason is because I try to live free,” Wembanyama said. “I’m trying to be a free mind at all times. And the way I play is just the way I truly want to play, and I’ve wanted to play my whole life. So, this is me, and I’m trying to show my true personality on the court and just be myself.”

The Spurs have had the No. 1 overall pick twice before, and they drafted a Hall of Famer each time, selecting David Robinson (1987) and Tim Duncan (1997). We’ll see if Wemby will have a similar career path.

Other players to watch in the draft this year include 6-foot-7 point guard Amen and 6-foot-7 wing Ausar Thompson of Overtime Elite. The twin brothers have a shot at becoming the first siblings drafted in the top 10, as both are incredibly skilled.

Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite and Brandon Miller out of Alabama are thought to be the top two candidates to get drafted directly behind Wembanyama.

There could also be a good deal of drama, as has been known to happen on draft day. Sam Vecenie of The Athletic reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks could all trade up in the first round.

Here’s a look at the draft order this year:

1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Charlotte Hornets
3. Portland Trail Blazers
4. Houston Rockets
5. Detroit Pistons
6. Orlando Magic
7. Indiana Pacers

NBA Draft 2023 Preview

The 2023 NBA Draft is getting more coverage than the draft has ever had before. The red carpet special kicks off at 5 p.m. Eastern on ESPN and streaming on the ESPN app, anchored by Cassidy Hubbarth, Kendrick Perkins and Richard Jefferson. Then at 8 p.m. Eastern the first round begins. ESPN’s team includes Malika Andrews, Adrian Wojnarowski, Jay Bilas, JJ Redick, Bobby Marks, Andraya Carter and Monica McNutt. Over on ABC’s broadcast, which will include in-depth storytelling and features, the coverage is led by Kevin Negandhi and Stephen A. Smith.

ESPN Radio’s broadcast of the draft begins at 7 p.m. Eastern and is anchored by Alan Hanh, Mark Kestecher, P.J. Carlesimo, Cory Alexander and Seth Greenberg. And finally, the Hoop Collective’s coverage will air on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and the ESPN app and is led by Christine Williamson, Brian Windhorst, Kirk Goldsberry, Kevin Pelton, King McClure and Trey Murphy III.

Basketball phenom Victor Wembanyama, who stands 7’5″, is generally considered the consensus No. 1 pick and will most likely be drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, who have the first pick in the draft. But he told ESPN in April before the order was known that there were no bad teams.

“I am not worried; there is no bad organization. I never tell myself I don’t like to go there. Every organization is so careful about their players that there’s no wrong destination,” said Wembanyama.

With Wembanyama being the consensus No. 1 pick, reporters asked Jay Bilas in a conference call what he thinks happens after Wembanyama gets drafted and he said it’s going to come down to Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller and he ultimately leaned toward Miller.

“The choice seems to be between Scoot Henderson of the G League who’s a really dynamic guard that can really get to the rim and create his own offense and ultra competitive. … He’s not figured out the shooting piece yet. He’s not a consistent perimeter shooter, but he’s got a ton of ability and his competitive nature is really impressive, especially at that age. He’s a hard charger,” said Bilas.

He continued, “Then the other choice would be Brandon Miller of Alabama, who’s 6’9″ and can really shoot it. He’s got deep range. He’s very athletic. He’s got range as a defender. He can switch out. He can protect the rim a little bit and challenge shots, but he can really score.”

Bilas said the question marks for Henderson are his shooting and maybe his size, then for Miller, the fact that he didn’t perform well in the NCAA tournament and has more of an injury issue.

Ultimately, Bilas said, “That’s a difficult decision. I would lean towards Miller because of the shooting. In a league that values shooting, he can really shoot it, and I think that’s the direction I would lean.”

The full first round order is as follows:

1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Charlotte Hornets
3. Portland Trail Blazers
4. Houston Rockets
5. Detroit Pistons
6. Orlando Magic
7. Indiana Pacers
8. Washington Wizards
9. Utah Jazz
10. Dallas Mavericks
11. Orlando Magic (via CHI)
12. Oklahoma City Thunder
13. Toronto Raptors
14. New Orleans Pelicans
15. Atlanta Hawks
16. Utah Jazz (via MIN)
17. Los Angeles Lakers
18. Miami Heat
19. Golden State Warriors
20. Houston Rockets (via LAC)
21. Brooklyn Nets (via PHX)
22. Brooklyn Nets
23. Portland Trail Blazers (via NY)
24. Sacramento Kings
25. Memphis Grizzlies
26. Indiana Pacers (via CLE
27. Charlotte Hornets (via DEN)
28. Utah Jazz (via PHI)
29. Indiana Pacers (via BOS)
30. LA Clippers (via MIL)

The 2023 NBA Draft airs Thursday, June 22 starting at 8 p.m. ET on both ABC and ESPN. The second round will air only on ESPN following the conclusion of the first round.

USA vs Canada Preview

The CONCACAF Nations League consists of men’s national soccer teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The finals this year are between the U.S. and Canada; Canada defeated Panama 2-0 in the semifinals to advance to the finals, while the U.S. took down Mexico 3-0 in their semifinal.

The U.S. vs Mexico semifinal may be what the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League tournament is remembered for, however, because the game was cut short by the referees due to the repeated homophobic chants from the Team Mexico fans. FIFA previously fined Mexico 100,000 Swiss francs (which is just over $100,000) in January for the team’s fans’ anti-gay chants.

Following the CONCACAF semifinal, the organization released a statement that reads:

Concacaf strongly condemns the discriminatory chanting by some fans during the 2023 Concacaf Nations League Semifinal match between Mexico and the United States.

Chants heard during the game led to the activation of the anti-discrimination protocol by the match officials. Additionally, security staff ejected several fans for engaging in unacceptable behavior in the stadium.

These incidents were extremely disappointing and tarnished what should have been a positive occasion to showcase high quality football in our region.

The Confederation is in the process of urgently establishing further details and reports from security and match officials and will make a further statement in short order.

Furthermore, the game got so heated in the second half that four players were ejected — Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest for the U.S. and Cesar Montes and Gerardo Arteaga for Mexico. None of them will be allowed to play in the final or third-place game.

B.J. Callaghan, who was named interim U.S. head coach after Anthony Hudson’s departure at the end of May, defended his players who got ejected, telling the Associated Press, “These are rivalry games. These are derby games. Things like this happen across the world and in no way am I embarrassed. It comes from a good place. They care about each other so much in that locker room that they’re standing up for each other. Sometimes does it have an issue where we take a red card? Yeah, but when you know where it comes from, you can accept it and it’s a learning lesson for us.”

He also said that the homophobic slurs have no place in the game.

“In terms of the chant, I want to make it very clear first and foremost, for our beliefs and our culture, it has no place in the game. It has no place in our value system,” said Callaghan.

The 2023 CONCACAF Nations League final between the U.S. and Canada airs Sunday, June 18 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time on Paramount Plus and the TUDN network.

Spain vs Croatia Preview

Croatia enters this match coming off a 4-2 win over the Netherlands. Andrej Kramaric, Mario Pasalic, Luka Modric and Bruno Petkovic all scored for Croatia in the win.

Zlatko Dalić, Croatia coach, had this to say heading into the match against Spain: “It’s a huge prize, the gold medal. We can’t have better motivation than that. We have put in a lot of energy, but we will try to recover. In six years, we have won three medals for Croatia; nobody believed we could do that. We are a superpower in football again and, besides all our problems, we showed that we have quality and character. We show that in our matches and it makes us happy and proud.”

On the other side, Spain got to the finals after handing Italy a 2-1 defeat in the semis. Yeremy Pino and Joselu put it in the net for the Spanish side. This will be Spain’s second straight appearance in the Nations League finals. La Roja lost to France the last time around, and it has another chance to win it all here.

“We know what [Croatia] are like; a very high-level team with great technical quality and some players with huge experience,” Spain manager Luis De La Fuente said. “They’ve reached the World Cup final and Nations League final so they are a very good side. They played extra time [in the semi-finals] but winning makes things easier. We’re not going to have much time to rest but we’re all very excited and I’m confident we will play at a high level.”

The two teams last met back in 2020, when they squared off in the round of 16 of the UEFA Euro 2020. Spain won, 5-3.

Here’s a look at the potential starting lineups for both teams:

Spain: GK: Unai Simon, Dani Carvajal, Robin Le Normand, Aymeric Laporte, Jordi Alba, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz, Gavi, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Morata, Yeremy Pino

Croatia: Dominik Livakovic; Josip Juranovic, Domagoj Vida, Josip Sutalo, Ivan Perisic; Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic, Mateo Kovacic; Mario Pasalic, Andrej Kramaric, Luka Ivanusec

‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Preview

“The Walking Dead” was so popular for AMC over its 11 seasons that it has spawned its own aftershow, “Talking Dead,” and six spinoffs. Three spinoffs have already aired — “Fear the Walking Dead” aired from 2015 to 2023, limited series “World Beyond” aired two seasons in 2020 and 2021, and the anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead” aired in 2022.

Three of the spinoffs are now forthcoming. “Dead City” premieres June 18, 2023, the Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) spinoff is slated for a late 2023 release, and the Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) spinoff is slated for 2024.

“Dead City” stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan, who are “traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. The series also stars Gaius Charles and Željko Ivanek,” according to the AMC press release.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Dan McDermott and the team at AMC on the next chapter in ‘The Walking Dead’ universe. Maggie is very close to my heart and I’m excited to continue her journey against the iconic backdrop of New York City, alongside my friend and collaborator, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Eli Jorné has created something incredibly special and I cannot wait for the fans to see what we have in store for Maggie and Negan,” said Cohan in a statement.

Morgan added, “I’m delighted that Negan and Maggie’s journey continues. It’s been such a ride walking in Negan’s shoes, I’m beyond excited to continue his journey in New York City with Lauren. Walkers in an urban setting has always been such a cool image, but 5th Avenue, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty? The greatest city in the world?? The backdrop is amazing, but it’s the story that Eli Jorné cooked up that is even better. Buckle up folks, ‘Dead City’ is going to reinvent the TWD Universe. Huge thank you to Dan McDermott, Scott Gimple and AMC for having us back for more… we simply can’t wait.”

The premiere episode is titled “Old Acquaintances” and its description reads, “Maggie finds Negan, and they travel to Manhattan; a marshal named Armstrong follows Negan; meeting a quiet young girl named Ginny.”

Then on June 25 comes episode two, titled “Who’s There?” Its description reads, “Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers; Armstrong revisits a trauma; Ginny attempts to adapt to change.”

“The Walking Dead: Dead City” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on AMC.

‘Outlander’ Season 7 Preview

When we last saw Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan) and the rest of their “Outlander” clan, Claire was going to be arrested for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds), but Jamie put up a good fight and instead, Richard Brown (Chris Larkin) was going to ship Jamie back to Scotland. Luckily, he was saved by Young Ian (John Bell) at the last moment, but Claire’s fate still remains up in the air. And Bree (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) were finally able to confirm Jemmy’s parentage because of a birthmark they found that he shares with Roger.

Fans are in for a treat with season 7 because while season 6 was unfortunately truncated due to the pandemic, season 7 is going to be supersized. It will be the first season with 16 episodes since season 1. Part of the reason for the episode order is because they are going to finish up book 6 and also include both books 7 and 8 in season 7. Then the final season, season 9, will be book 9.

The season description per the Starz press release reads:

Following the harrowing events of season 6, Jamie and Young Ian race to rescue Claire before she’s tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie. But their mission is complicated by the beginning of a geopolitical firestorm: The American Revolution has arrived. In the seventh season of “Outlander,” Jamie, Claire, and their family are caught in the violent birth pains of an emerging nation as armies march to war and British institutions crumble in the face of armed rebellion.

The land the Frasers call home is changing – and they must change with it. In order to protect what they’ve built, the Frasers have to navigate the perils of the Revolutionary War. They learn that sometimes to defend what you love, you have to leave it behind. As the conflict draws them out of North Carolina and into the heart of this fight for independence, Jamie, Claire, Brianna, and Roger are faced with impossible decisions that have the potential to tear their family apart.

The premiere episode is titled “A Life Well Lost” and its description reads, “Jamie races towards Wilmington to rescue Claire from the gallows, only to discover that the American Revolution has well and truly reached North Carolina.”

Then on June 23 comes episode two, titled “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Its description reads, “Claire makes a startling discovery about Roger and Brianna’s newborn daughter. A familiar face returns to the Ridge with explosive consequences.”

“Outlander” season 7 premieres Friday, June 16 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on Starz.

Men’s College World Series 2023 Preview

The 2023 Men’s NCAA baseball tournament is down to its final eight teams — LSU, Florida, Virginia, Wake Forest, Stanford, Tennessee, TCU and Oral Roberts. Those eight teams now play in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, that could go as long as 17 games. The tournament starts on June 16 and runs through June 25 or 26, depending on if the finals go to three games.

The top half of the bracket sees TCU face off with Oral Roberts and Virginia take on Florida on Friday, June 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern time. The winners of those two games and the losers of those two games then play each other on Sunday, June 18, also at 2 pm (the two losing teams) and 7 pm Eastern (the two winning teams).

The bottom half of the bracket sees Stanford take on Wake Forest and Tennessee face off with LSU on Saturday, June 17, also at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the two losing teams playing Monday, June 19 at 2 p.m. and the two winning teams playing Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m.

In a pre-tournament press conference, LSU head coach Jay Johnson said that he has been an LSU Tigers fan since he was a kid because of what their former coach Skip Bertman did at LSU and he’s so honored to be taking them to the college world series. He also said it started right after his former team, the Arizona Wildcats, were eliminated from the 2021 College World Series on a tough loss.

“It means a lot [to be here]. It started right after the heartbreak of losing in the College World Series. The opening game in 2021 … we played great that night, it was a tough loss in extra innings and then we got elimianted by Stanford and then [LSU] approached me and said, ‘Hey, what do you think about this?’ Probably wouldn’t have gone anywhere else, but the gentleman sitting back there, Coach Bertman, made this the place.

He continued, “I thought, ‘Wow, this is a once-in-a-lifetime, once-in-a-career opportunity and dream come true, to be a part of this with all those great players … all the great assistant coaches.’ I mean, I grew up, I’m 12 years old, I had an LSU baseball cap on in northern California. Watching the purple jerseys run around Omaha all the time, so to get to coach this team in the College World Series, I have a hard time putting that into words, but it’s pretty special.”

The 2023 Men’s College World Series airs from June 16 to June 26 across the ESPN family of networks.

US Open 2023 Preview

This will be the third major of 2023, and it will take place on a 7,423-yard, par-70 course that has five par-3s and three par 5s.

Former winners competing this year include Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Martin Kaymer, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, and Rory McIlroy. After winning the PGA Championship, Koepka will be a frontrunner here, as will Masters winner John Rahm.

Standing in their way is last year’s winner, Matt Fitzpatrick, who is looking to repeat again.

“This year, I would say, is quite a bit different,” Fitzpatrick said, per ESPN. “I feel like the start of the year I had a good, obviously, first event in Hawaii and then got injured, and that kind of felt like it set me back quite a bit for February and March. Ended up obviously playing well in April. I feel like my game is kind of getting in the right place.”

This will also be the first major competition since the recent merging of the PGA Tour and LIV golf, so there promises to be drama galore. “I think ultimately when I look at the bigger picture, 10 years down the line, this is going to be good for the game of professional golf,” McIlroy said. “I still hate LIV. I hope it goes away.”

USA vs Mexico Preview

The United States has been on a bit of a hot streak against Mexico, winning its last five games in the series. For the U.S., all eyes will be on striker Folarin Balogun, who is making his USMNT debut here. Balogun had 21 goals and two assists in Ligue 1 play, and he’s expected to give the American side a spark.

“In addition to having big-game experience and top-level talent, what’s great about this group overall is the familiarity and understanding that’s been built together these last four years about our style and our culture,” interim coach B.J. Callaghan said about his squad, via Soccer Wire. “We’re excited to integrate some of the newer faces as we set out to achieve our first goal of the summer in defending the Concacaf Nations League title.”

Callaghan just took over as interim coach a few weeks ago, so it will be interesting to see how the Americans respond.

On the other side, Mexico is fresh from a win over Guatemala and a 2-2 tie against Cameroon this week. Both were friendlies. El Tri will be without two key players in this one, however, as both Raul Jiminez and Hirvilg Lozano will be unavailable.

The winner of this match will go on to face the winner of  Canada vs. Panama.

Here are the officials for the match:

  • Referee: Ivan Barton (SLV)
  • AR1: David Moran (SLV)
  • AR2: Juan Francisco Zumba (SLV)
  • 4th Official: Walter Lopez (GUA)

Spain vs Italy Preview

Italy and Spain are facing off in the second UEFA Nations League semifinal for a chance to play for the first Nations League title in either country’s history. Whoever advances out of the semifinal will play the winner of Netherlands vs Croatia in the final on June 18; the losing team will play in the third-place match earlier that same day against the losing team from the other semifinal.

Both teams were put through the wringer in the group phase that sees each team play the other three teams in the group twice. Both Italy and Spain earned three victories apiece, with one loss and two draws.

Spain emerged victorious out of Group A2, defeating Portugal, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, while Italy came out of Group A3, defeating Hungary, England and Germany.

The last time the two teams met in the UEFA Nations League semifinal was in 2021, when Spain defeated Italy 2-1. Spain then lost in the finals to France, while Italy won the third-place game against Belgium. In that semifinal, Spain snapped Italy’s world-record 37-game winning streak.

In in a pre-match press conference (via UEFA.com), Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente said that it’s going to be a very “evenly-matched” game.

“The team has been improving. I’m convinced that tomorrow’s game will be a great one and, based on our yardstick, we’re on the right track to establishing our own, strong brand of football. It’s going to be very evenly matched between Italy and Spain; we have a very similar level and relatively similar characteristics, so the match will be decided by fine margins. We will try to control those fine margins. That’s the way to win,” said de la Fuente.

“I hope that we can lift the trophy, but we know that we’re facing one of the best national teams in the world, in my opinion,” added Spain defender Jordi Alba. “If we do win this tournament, we’ll have faced two really powerful teams (after their last-second win over Portugal to advance out of the group). It will be difficult, but we’re coming into this semi-final with great momentum.”

Italy’s coach Roberto Mancini praised the teams in their group and added, “We’re in the final stage and it’s clear that we want to win, like the others, but it won’t be easy. I had to make some choices, unfortunately someone was left out, but the guys who are here all deserve it.”

The Italy vs Spain UEFA Nations League semifinal kicks off on Thursday, June 15 at 2:45 p.m. Eastern time on Fox Sports 1.

Djokovic vs Ruud French Open Final 2023 Preview

Serbian Novak Djokovic is trying to win a men’s record-setting 23rd Grand Slam title when he faces off with Norwegian Casper Ruud in the 2023 French Open Men’s Final on Sunday, June 11. The win would tie him with Serena Williams for second overall behind Margaret Court’s 24. He will also be halfway to completing the calendar-year Grand Slam because he won the Australia Open in January. He wins at the age of 36, he’ll become the oldest winner of the French Open in the modern era.

History is on Djokovic’s side. He and Ruud have had four previous meetings and he has won all four of them — without dropping a set, actually, so Ruud knows he has a huge task in front of him.

“I think Novak has played great this tournament, and in the Grand Slams, he always raises his level,” Ruud said in his pre-match press conference, adding, “It’s going to be a tough challenge. I have never beaten him before. So I’m going to have to try to come up with a better game plan and just know I’m going to have to play my best game, my A game, my best level that I’ve ever played if I want to have a chance against him. I’m going to try to do that, and try to play without too much pressure. That’s sort of what I did today, just went out, didn’t think too much, didn’t want to show too many emotions, either good or bad ones. I was just in the zone. Let’s see if I can keep this sort of feeling and mentality in for the final.”

He also said that he’s going to “just try to enjoy the moment” because while Djokovic is playing for his 23rd Grand Slam title, Ruud is playing for his first.

“I think that was my mentality last year, as well, and it didn’t go my way. Obviously, I would like to try to do better than last year. Let’s see if I have learned something from the two previous ones that I played last year,” he added. “It just feels great to be back. I mean, I didn’t think or necessarily believe in the beginning of the tournament that I was gonna be in the final I gave it my best, of course, in every match, took one match at a time, and tomorrow is going to be toughest challenge of the year for me.”

The 2023 French Open Men’s Final between Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud airs live on Sunday, June 11 at 9 a.m. Eastern time on NBC and Peacock.

Taylor vs Lopez Preview

The marquee boxing match this week sees the former undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor taking on the former unified lightweight titleholder in Teofimo Lopze on Saturday night in Madison Square Garden. On the line is Taylor’s WBO junior welterweight title.

In the pre-bout press conference, Taylor said that Lopez has been “disrespectful” and he’s here to win.

“He means what he says, and I mean what I say. There is genuine dislike here. He’s been disrespectful. I’m going to make him pay for his words on Saturday. I can’t wait to get in there. You will see a Josh Taylor win, possibly by KO, and nice and early as well,” said Taylor.

He added, “I know he’s a good fighter. The version that beat Lomachenko is a very good fighter. That’s the version I’m preparing for. It’s all about your preparation. I’ve prepared diligently and to the best of my ability. You’ll see the best of me on Saturday night.”

The disrespect in question was made during an interview with Punsh Drunk Boxing. In that interview Lopez straight-up said he wants to kill Taylor in the ring.

“I said it like it is: I want to kill Josh Taylor. Well, what the f*** does that mean? People are like, ‘Get back to boxing.’ Well, that is boxing. This is what we sign up for,” said Lopez, adding, “You’re gonna apply I lose your life and what does that mean and yeah, I mean, if I’m if I’m gonna die in that ring at least I died for some dignity and some integrity, I went out there like a warrior, like a champ. I know it’s what I signed up for … I think people want to be, I think people are trying to mind-f*** themselves that this is not what it is. It is what it is.”

When asked about it at the pre-bout press conference, he did not back down, saying, “You aim at death for that’s where life begins. Everybody is scared of death. I don’t know why. We’re all going to die, but at least if I die, I’m dying for something that means something and will last forever. That’s what greats are all about.”

The Taylor vs Lopez fight airs live on Saturday, June 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN Plus. The main event should be happening around 10 p.m. Eastern.

Man City vs Inter Preview

Both teams enter this game healthy, with no major injury concerns on either side. Inter’s Joaquin Correa is still nursing a calf injury, but he is expected to play. Man City’s Kyle Walker is also expected to suit up and contribute, although whether he’ll start remains a question mark.

Man City has won both the Premier League championship along with the FA Cup title, and it will be looking to win the treble with a victory here. Inter has two significant victories of its own after winning the Supercoppa Italiani and the Coppa Italia, but it will still be a huge underdog in this game.

“Manchester City have won two trophies (this season), but so have Inter. They will be facing an opponent who deserve to be in Istanbul as much as they do,” Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said heading into the matchup.

For its part, Man City, who tied Real Madrid 1-1 before beating them again 4-0 in the semis, is vowing to stay focused and take it one match at a time.

“We know exactly how important the competition is,” Man City manager Pep Guardiola said. “We’re just focusing on what we have to do. I’ve seen as many Inter games as possible to try to get to know them as well as possible. What is important tomorrow is to put in the best performance we can. That will make the difference.”

Guardiola and company aren’t about to overlook Inter, either. “They can attack you down the middle, they can attack you out wide,” Guardiola added. “That is very difficult to control. If you get into one-on-ones, they can destroy you. We’re going to try and defend as well as possible and just try to put in a good performance.”

This will be the first time Man City and Inter Milan have faced each other. Here’s a look at the potential starting lineups for both teams:

Man City Predicted Starting Lineup: GK: Ederson, CB: Kyle Walker, CB: Ruben Dias, CB: Manuel Akanji, DM: John Stones, DM: Rodri, RM: Bernardo Silva, AM: Kevin De Bruyne, AM: Ilkay Gundogan, LM: Jack Grealish, and CF: Erling Haaland

Man City vs Inter Preview

Man City has a ton to play for here. After winning the Premier League title and the FA Cup, Pep Guardiola’s team will be looking to complete the treble. They’ll need a win against Inter Milan first.

Inter defender Francesco Acerbi will have his hands full trying to contain Erling Haaland, who has a whopping 52 goals in 52 games for Man City. Haaland is also able to create opportunities for his teammates, so expect Inter to have a plan for him.

Inter finished in third-place in Italy’s Serie A, and it will be a huge underdog here. Lautaro Martinez led the Internazionale with 28 goals this season, and it’ll take a Herculean effort from him and his teammates to overcome a determined Man City squad.

“We all know City, we know that they’re the strongest team in the world,” Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi said. “Even in the few defeats they’ve suffered they’ve proved it. But it will be eleven vs. eleven. We know the journey we’ve taken to get here. We’ll play a match with a strong mentality.”

“What Pep’s done is build a squad of players that understand his way of thinking,” former English striker Peter Crouch said, via Eurosport. “If they don’t, they’ve been moved on. Now he’s got such a special team playing the way he wants to play football, and they look invincible, and unbeatable in every single position. You have to remember it’s one game, not over two legs. Anything can happen. They might get a man sent off, or something might happen tactically. Inter Milan, of course, have a chance, but I’d put them not favorites.”

City have scored 31 goals so far in the competition, while Inter has scored 19 times.

Here’s a look at the potential starting lineups for both teams heading into the matchup:

Man City Predicted Starting Lineup: GK: Ederson, CB: Kyle Walker, CB: Ruben Dias, CB: Manuel Akanji, DM: John Stones, DM: Rodri, RM: Bernardo Silva, AM: Kevin De Bruyne, AM: Ilkay Gundogan, LM: Jack Grealish, and CF: Erling Haaland

Man City vs Inter Preview

England’s Manchester City is seeking its first European title when it takes on Inter Milan in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, June 10. Man City has reached the UEFA finals once before, losing to Chelsea in 2021, while Inter Milan have won the title three times and have reached the finals two other times.

If Man City wins, they will earn the first “treble” in team history — i.e., they won the English Premier League, the FA Cup and then the UEFA Champions League.

In his pre-game press conference, Man City head coach Pep Guardiola — who recently played himself on “Ted Lasso” — acknowledged that historically, Inter Milan has been more successful than Man City in the UEFA Champions League, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with this year’s final.

“It’s really good, it’s really good dreaming, dreaming the game … it’s a dream. A dream to be here. Two years ago, we were there, but in different situations for the COVID. We’re going to try to do our best and we know it’s a final is how you behave that specific 95 minutes. It’s not about history. That history, they are better than us. It’s about what you have to do, what you have to do in 95 minutes to be better than the opponent. It doesn’t count what you have done in group stage, quarterfinals, last season, Premier League or FA Cup. It’s one single you have to be better than them this time,” said the manager.

He went on to say that Inter Milan has one of the best goal keepers in the world in Andre Onana that’s where their toughness starts.

“A team with a lot of history, they have done really, really well in the last few years. With the shape, it’s not just how good they defend, it’s how good they are with the ball, with the transition, have to link with the strikers and especially they have a really good process, especially starting from Onana, is an exceptional keeper with a build-up, one of the best of hte world, and that makes it so difficult, our high pressing, because you cannot press all the players that are on the pitch. Yeah, really, really good team,” said Guardiola.

The UEFA Champions League match between Man City and Inter Milan kicks off on Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m. Eastern time on CBS and TUDN, plus Univision and Paramount Plus.

‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Season 16 Preview

When “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” premiered its 15th season in 2021, it became the longest-running live-action American comedy series, breaking the record for number of seasons set by “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” which ran for 14 seasons between 1952 and 1966. So every subsequent season of “It’s Always Sunny” sets a new record and it has been renewed through 18 seasons.

The FXX press release teases of season 16 that the gang is “ripping straight from the headlines” this season.

It reads:

The Gang™ is ripping straight from the headlines – Inflation, US-Russian relations, mental health, gender equality, injury liability, gun control, and… celebrity-branded products. But here’s a headline for you: “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Returns for Sweet Season 16!”

But there’s nothing sweet about them as Ronald “Mac” MacDonald (Rob McElhenney), Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day), Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton), Dee Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) yearn for the past as they attempt to survive in 2023.

This year alone, Mac battles with allergies and long-distance dating, Charlie takes on his long-forgotten sisters, Dee fights for rent control and women’s athletics, Frank wrestles for his gun, and Dennis struggles to improve his mental health. At the end of the day, they’re navigating 2023 with 16 years of baggage as a few figures from their past rear their heads.

The premiere episode is titled “The Gang Inflates” and its description reads, “Dennis and Mac get into inflatable furniture to deal with the economy’s inflation, while Dee tries to find a place to crash after being evicted by her greedy landlord and Charlie wants to pitch Frank his crypto/online investment idea. And in this inflation episode everything gets bigger – Dee’s desperation, Mac’s lips, and even Charlie’s apartment!”

Immediately following the premiere is episode two, titled “Frank Shoots Every Member of the Gang.” Its description reads, “After Frank shoots Dennis and Dee, they resolve to take Frank’s gun away. Mac and Charlie go on a road trip with their moms to get their inheritances — for Mac, it’s letters written by his grandfather which have fallen into his Uncle Donald’s hands, while for Charlie, it’s a jar of teeth that is now in the hands of his sisters, Bunny and Candy.”

Then on June 14 comes episode three, titled “The Gang Gets Cursed.” Its description reads, “The Gang’s going to be on Bar Rescue but a series of bad omens leads them to believe they are all cursed. They set off to undo the curses and make amends to the people/things they’ve wronged. While Mac, who’s on a run of good luck, meets Chase Utley and invites him for a catch.”

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on FXX.

Oklahoma vs Florida State Preview

The Sooners enter this series on a 51-game winning streak, by far the best in the nation. Oklahoma handed Stanford a 4-2 loss in extra innings to move into the championship on the strength of Tiare Jennings’ bat. Jennings slammed a two-RBI double in the ninth inning to help the Sooners get to yet another championship.

This will be a best-of-three series, and it will be held at OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City, so the Sooners may have the edge when it comes to crowd noise. Game 1 will take place on June 7, with Game 2 on June 8. If necessary, Game 3 will be played on June 9.

“We win a lot. And that’s fabulous,” Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso told USA Today. “But sometimes we’re so used to taking it for granted. This means a lot. This means a lot to get to the championship game.”

On the other side, Florida State handed the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers a 5-1 loss behind Katie Dack’s three-run home run to get to this point.

“The ultimate goal when you get here is can you have everything firing on all cylinders,” Florida State coach Lonni Alameda said, via the Associated Press. “There’s no book written on how to do that. You have to go from your previous experiences, your upperclassmen, what you think they can consistently bring, how you can grow your young ones.”

The Sooners have won back-to-back national championships, while FSU is looking for its first title since 2018.

These two teams met once during the regular season, with the Sooners beating Florida State, 5-4 on March 14. This will also be a rematch of the 2021 WCWS championship, which Oklahoma won in two games.

Here’s a look at some players to watch throughout the series:

Key Oklahoma Players:

  • Tiare Jennings, 2B: .426 batting average, 17 home runs, 65 RBI, .807 slugging percentage, .488 on-base percentage
  • Jayda Coleman, CF: .423 batting average, 18 home runs, 48 RBI, .814 slugging percentage, .543 on-base percentage, 16 stolen bases
  • Kinzie Hansen, C: .412 batting average, 13 home runs, 55 RBI, .771 slugging percentage, .442 on-base percentage
  • Jordyn Bahl, P: 21-1, 0.97 ERA, 137.1 innings pitched, 179 strikeouts, and opponent’s batting average of .16

Key FSU Players:

  • Jahni Kerr, OF: .357 batting average, 8 home runs, 15 doubles, 39 RBI, .571 slugging percentage, .392 on-base percentage
  • Kaley Mudge, OF: .353 batting average, 5 home runs, 17 doubles, 43 RBI, .539 slugging percentage, .415 on-base percentage
  • Kalei Harding, UTIL: .322 batting average, 10 home runs, 22 doubles, 48 RBI, .613 slugging percentage, .397 on-base percentage

‘Beyond Skinwalker Ranch’ Preview

“The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch” premiered in March 2020 and is currently airing its fourth season. The show follows a team of investigators digging into the unexplained phenomena surrounding the mysterious Skinwalker Ranch in Utah.

Team members include:

Travis S. Taylor, aerospace engineer
Brandon Fugal, owner of Skinwalker Ranch
Bryant “Dragon” Arnold, security chief
Tom Winterton, ranch superintendent
Jim Segala, skeptic
Erik Bard, principal investigator
Jim Morse, ranch manager
Tom Lewis, ranch caretaker
Kandus Linde, ranch caretaker
Kaleb Bench, Security

Now in the spinoff series, investigaters Erik Bard, Travis Taylor, Bryant “Dragon” Arnold and Brandon Fugal explore “other sites of unusual activity and ‘high strangeness’ phenomena in an effort to discover if the activity documented on Skinwalker Ranch is not only real, but pervasive,” according to the History Channel press release.

It continues:

While Skinwalker Ranch is a unique place, it is not the only place that has interesting phenomena to be observed. “Beyond Skinwalker Ranch” follows a team of professionals including a former CIA investigator, an award-winning investigative journalist, and others as they study eyewitness accounts, unpack visual evidence, and conduct measurable scientific experiments to investigate locales outside of Skinwalker Ranch.

From orb detections to numerous UAP sightings, the phenomena studied by the team at each location aims to offer a broader perspective, larger data set, and deeper level of understanding to the team at Skinwalker Ranch.

Locations that the investigaters will explore this season include Bradshaw Ranch in Arizona, Bridgewater Triangle in Massachusetts, Rocky Mountain Ranch in Colorado and more.

The premiere episode is titled “Bradshaw Ranch” and its description reads, “Investigators Andy Bustamante and Paul Beban investigate Bradshaw Ranch in Sedona, Ariz., and encounter dangerous radiation levels, a strange temperature anomaly, and a UAP.”

Then on June 13 comes episode two, titled “Mt. Wilson Ranch.” Its description reads, “Andy and Paul travel to Nevada, and investigate Mt. Wilson, a property once owned by Robert Bigelow and thought to contain mysterious tunnels that lead to a buried UFO.”

This is the second “Beyond” title on the History Channel. The first was “Beyond Oak Island,” a spinoff of the popular treasure hunter show “The Curse of Oak Island.” On “Beyond Oak Island” brothers Rick and Marty Lagina and their friend Matty Blake “head out across America for … treasure quests beyond Oak Island.” Some of their quests have included “Black Sam Bellamy, one of the most successful buccaneers during the golden age of piracy, as well as the infamous Atocha, the 17th century Spanish galleon that was first discovered by the late Mel Fisher in the 1980s, and which still contains hundreds of millions in lost riches today.”

‘Cruel Summer’ Season 2 Preview

“Cruel Summer” is an anthology series and as such, its second season will be a completely different story from its first. The first season focused on two teenage girls in the mid-1990s and the repercussions on everyone’s lives after one of the girls disappeared and the other one seemingly took her place.

Season two is about the “the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship,” according to the Freeform press release.

It continues:

Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.

The new cast is as follows:

Sadie Stanley will star as Megan Landry, a computer coder and honor student from a blue-collar family. Once Megan meets Isabella, she begins to live in the moment and embrace her true self. When events take a tragic turn, her long-held dreams are dashed, and she is left wondering who she can trust.

Eloise Payet portrays the alluring and enigmatic Isabella, the daughter of foreign diplomats, who is spending a year as an exchange student with the Landry family. She quickly shakes up life in this small town, but her charm can’t hide the truth about her past or the real reason she came to live with the Landrys forever.

Griffin Gluck plays Luke Chambers, Megan’s lifelong best friend from a prominent family. Over time, Luke finds himself at a crossroads as he tries to establish his own place in the world, separate from the expectations of his powerful father.

KaDee Strickland stars as Debbie, Megan’s hardworking single mom who thinks hosting Isabella will open Megan’s eyes to a bigger world than their small town.

Lisa Yamada is Parker, a popular musician who becomes more cynical as the world takes a dark turn around her.

Sean Blakemore will play Sheriff Myer, an old-fashioned law-and-order type, under pressure to solve the first major crime in Chatham.

Paul Adelstein will recur as Steve Chambers, Luke’s high-profile dad, whose influence in town is far-reaching.

The premiere episode is called “Welcome to Chatham” and its description reads, “In Summer 1999, small-town computer genius Megan resents the arrival of outgoing and mysterious foreign exchange student Isabella. Little does she know how her life will change by Summer 2000.”

“Cruel Summer” premieres its second season on Monday, June 5 at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on Freeform.

FA Cup Final 2023 Preview

After winning the Premier League, Man City will have an opportunity to complete the treble with a win here coupled with a victory against Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola and his squad are looking to match United’s 1998-99 feat under Sir Alex Ferguson, when they won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same year. The fact that United was the last team to accomplish this incredible feet gives the squad extra motivation to prevent Guardiola and company from doing so.

“Everybody knows what position we are in. It comes once in a lifetime, twice in a lifetime? Being champions in the Premier League three games before the end and to play two finals – that doesn’t come every season. Once we are there, first of all you have to relax and enjoy and do your best, but no-one can be sure we will be in that position again,” Guardiola said.

“There is still one game to go, and I am sure that these players will give everything to beat Manchester City next week,” Man United coach Erik ten Hag said.

“United have many threats and we know them well,” Man City defender Rúben Dias added. “We know who can be dangerous and how they can be dangerous. Overall United are dangerous because of the team they are and not any individual. Our biggest weapon is focusing on what we can do.”

These two teams last met on January 14 of 2023, when United won at Old Trafford, 2-1. City won had convincingly beaten Manchester United before that, 6-3, in October of 2022, so this one promises to be both eventful and entertaining.

Here’s a look at the potential lineups for both teams heading into this match:

Man United: GK: David de Gea, RB: Diogo Dalot, CB: Raphael Varane, CB: Victor Lindelof, LB: Luke Shaw, CM: Casemiro, CM: Fred, RW: Jadon Sancho, AM: Bruno Fernandes, LW: Alejandro Garnacho and ST: Marcus Rashford.

Man City: GK: Ederson, RB: Kyle Walker, CB: Aymeric Laporte, LCB: Nathan Ake, DM: John Stones, DM: Rodri, RW: Riyad Mahrez, AM: Ilkay Gundogan, AM: Bernardo Silva, LW: Phil Foden and Striker Erling Haaland.

‘The Eric Andre Show’ Season 6 Preview

The outrageous, chaotic, groundbreaking comedy “The Eric Andre Show” returns for its sixth season on Saturday night, June 3 and it brings with it a plethora of famous guest stars.

The Adult Swim press release teases:

Famous guests appearing in the new season include Natasha Lyonne, Jaleel White, Blac Chyna, Jon Hamm, Raven-Symoné, Diplo, Daymond John, Meagan Good, Rico Nasty, Waka Flocka Flame, Tinashe, Cypress Hill, Lil Yachty and a host of other celebrities so big we legally can’t use them in promotions.

Invoking the tantric swag of sex god EROS, season six is guaranteed to be the most high-octane, stone cold, no holds barred, mind-blowing, emotionally mature late night show in the history of mankind. Eric is back behind the desk like never before; ripped, shredded, full of energy, complete with beads of sweat dripping down from his taut nips onto his glistening six pack abs. Watch pampered celebrities regret their choices, rappers get the runaround, and a slate of street pranks so egregious they collectively inspired a record 30 phone calls to 911. Co-hosts include Felipe Esparza, Reese W, Krft Punk, and the mysterious (but soon-to-be iconic) FRIDGE KEEPER.

Originally premiering on Adult Swim in 2012, “The Eric Andre Show” takes place on a dingy public-access TV channel within an alternate reality, featuring an unpredictable mix of actual celebrities, “fake” celebrities and extreme real-life weirdos. These interviews are broken up with deranged man-on-the-street segments, surreal flashes of inexplicable studio chaos, talk show desk-pieces and the general deconstruction of late night’s most beloved trope.

“The wait is finally over,” said Andre in a statement. “We broke a lot of hearts, sets, and famous people’s publicists to bring you our most chaotic season so far. We’ve barely recovered.”

The season premiere is titled “Bugs Weekly” and its description reads, “Eric Andre is back; Lil Nas X and Karrueche Tran sit in the chair; Denzel Curry gets his teeth done; a Jewish exterminator hopes to capture the mother of all flies before the High Holy Days.”

Immediately following the premiere is episode two, titled “Jaleel Blanco.” Its description reads, “Eric welcomes Mia Khalifa and Jaleel White; human statutes have a brutal fight in New York City; Goober Driver goes off-roading.”

“The Eric Andre Show” season 6 premieres Saturday, June 3 into Sunday, June 4 at midnight Eastern time on Adult Swim.

Panthers vs Golden Knights Game 1 Preview

The 2023 Stanley Cup Finals will be a clash of teams located in two cities that one doesn’t normally associate with hockey — Las Vegas and Miami. But both teams have looked very strong in recent weeks.

While the Las Vegas Golden Knights sat atop the Pacific Division of the Western Conference with a record of 51-22-9, the Florida Panthers actually finished in fourth in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. But they have been playing great hockey, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4 games to 1 in round 2 of the playoffs and then sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes in the conference finals.

Meanwhile, the Golden Knights have had closer series on their way to the finals. They beat the Edmonton Oilers 4 games to 2 in round 2 and then beat the Dallas Stars 4 games to 2 to advance to the finals.

In the regular season, the Golden Knights and the Panthers met twice and split their head-to-head match-ups. In January, the Golden Knights came away with the victory in that game by a score of 4-2. Then in March, the Panthers won 2-1.

In ESPN’s preview of the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, analyst Kristen Shilton said that Panthers really have nothing to lose after most pundits counted them out this season.

“Florida plays by its own rules — and has a great time doing it. That’s been the Panthers’ secret sauce since punching their last-minute ticket into the playoff field. They truly approach each game with a fun-focused attitude; there’s no pressure or expectations weighing them down, and that’s a gift in itself,” writes Shilton. “Florida is also a superior team to the one talked about throughout the regular season. The Panthers can win tight-checking, defensive-heavy battles or the more wide-open, offensively amplified ones. They’re deep, they’re dangerous and most importantly, the Panthers know exactly who they are. And clearly, they knew that way before anyone else. Regardless of how the finals end for Florida, this has been a spectacular spring for a team pundits previously left for dead.”

Meanwhile, writer Ryan S. Clark says of the Golden Knights, “Enough was in place at the close of the regular season to suggest the Golden Knights had depth. The playoffs have shown there are layers to the Golden Knights, and how they operate. All of their lines can consistently forecheck, with the notion that all of their combinations have their unique way of creating scoring chances.”

Whichever team wins will bring home the first Stanley Cup victory for their franchise.

The full finals schedule is as follows (all times Eastern):

Game 1: Saturday, June 3, Florida at Las Vegas, 8 p.m. on TNT
Game 2: Monday, June 5, Florida at Las Vegas, 8 p.m. on TNT
Game 3: Thursday, June 8, Las Vegas at Florida, 8 p.m. on TNT

Game 6: Friday, June 16, Las Vegas at Florida, 8 p.m. on TNT (if needed)
Game 7: Monday, June 19, Florida at Las Vegas, 8 p.m. on TNT (if needed)

‘TLC Forever’ Preview

“TLC Forever” is a new documentary that “chronicles the journey of the top selling American female group of all-time who led the way with their music, their message and their style,” according to the Lifetime press release.

It continues:

This special will document the group’s powerful, emotional journey and their survival against all odds as T-Boz and Chilli tell their story for the first time in a feature documentary.

Formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1990, TLC consisted of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Having sold over 85 million records worldwide, the group enjoyed success, scoring nine top-ten hits and winning over 35 major awards including Video of the Year Award for “Waterfalls” Billboard Hot 100, including four number-one singles “Creep”, “Waterfalls”, “No Scrubs”, and “Unpretty”. Accolades include nine top-ten hits, four career Grammy® Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and five Soul Train Music Awards.

However the glow of success was accompanied by darkness, controversy and tragedy, as TLC balanced worldwide fame and massive notoriety against internal fallouts, external attacks, bankruptcy, and illness. When Left Eye died tragically in 2002, the group faced not only immense pain and an uncertain future but also felt abandoned by the entertainment industry despite iconic achievements. Against all odds and through all the struggles, the group persevered with courage, love and unity, forging a new path to success, including launching a new tour slated for summer 2023.

“As someone who has long been in awe of TLC and their musical and cultural impact, I am thrilled to be a part of bringing the story of their music, their journey, and their continuing reverence to the screen,” said director Roger Ross Williams in a statement. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with A&E, as well as filmmaker Matthew Kay, to bring this film to life. We hope this film illuminates a side of this incredible group and Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas that longtime fans and viewers alike have not seen before.”

“The ‘Biography’ banner has always focused on telling the stories of remarkable people who have had a major impact on our collective culture,” added Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and Head of Programming, A&E Network. “As a revolutionary group that broke boundaries and influenced an entire generation, TLC falls directly into that category and we are honored to tell their incredible story as it has never been told before.”

“TLC Forever” premieres on Saturday, June 3 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on Lifetime and A&E.

FA Cup Final 2023 Preview

The Man City vs Man United FA Cup Final is going to be a dogfight, but Manchester United better be ready to bring their A-game because City hasn’t given up a single goal in the 2023 FA Cup tournament.

Man City beat Chelsea 4-0 in the third round, beat Arsenal 1-0 in the fourth round, beat Bristol City 3-0 in the fifth round, beat Burnley 6-0 in the quarterfinals and beat Sheffield United 3-0 in the semifinals. However, in the two teams’ regular Premier League season match-ups, the teams split — Man City won the first match-up 6-3, while Man United won the second match-up 2-1, so United has shown that they can beat City.

According to The Analyst, Man City is favored by nearly 64 percent to win and if United loses, it will be their ninth FA Cup finals loss, which is more FA Cup finals losses than any other football club.

If City wins this match and then wins the UEFA Champions League final a week later, they will become the second team along with United to achieve The Treble, which is winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League in the same season.

Both clubs are facing some key players being out due to injury. According to The Daily Mail, City has four players doubtful for the FA Cup final: Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish. Meanwhile United is going to be missiing Anthony Martial due to a hamstring injury.

In a post-semifinals press conference, United manager Erik Ten Hag had this to say about City, “I think you have always a chance in football and I think the history shows we beat them in January. But I think Man United in the last couple of years Beat City many times, so these players know when they play at their levels that they can compete and it’s obvious we play against probably in this moment the best team [in the country], but still there is a chance and we have to go for a chance and we have to give everything. We can’t be after the game find excuses for ourselves. I’m sure we will play a good game Saturday.”

The Manchester City vs Manchester United FA Cup Final kicks off on Saturday, June 3 at 10 a.m. Eastern time on ESPN Plus live from Wembley Stadium.

Heat vs Nuggets Game 1 Preview

Denver beat Miami in each of the two games these two teams played against each other this season. The Nuggets won on the road, 112-108, on February 13. Jokic had a game-high 27 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while Jimmy Butler had 24 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in the loss.

The Nuggets also won at home on December 30, 124-119. Heat forward Tyler Herro led Miami in scoring in that loss with 26 points. Herro, who broke his hand in the first game of the playoffs, is expected to return around Game 3, but he likely won’t be ready before that.

Miami has been doing just fine without Herro, though, relying heavily on Butler, who has averaged 28.5 points a game throughout the playoffs. Butler is one of seven Heat players scoring in double figures this postseason, which has been a huge reason the team has made it this far. The No. 8 seed in the East, the Heat sent the 58-win Milwaukee Bucks and the 57-win Boston Celtics home, also beating the New York Knicks in the playoffs so far.

Now, Miami heads to Denver to face the top seed in the West.

“You get to the NBA Finals, it’s not about seeding anymore,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said heading into Game 1. “And for those who are thinking that this is going to be an easy series, I don’t even know what to say to you people. This is going to be the biggest challenge of our lives. This is the NBA Finals. You’re trying to win the first NBA championship in franchise history, and it’s going to be the hardest thing that we’ve ever done — which is the way it should be.”

The Heat are the underdogs again this series, but that may only serve as motivation for Butler and company.

“Everybody’s confidence is so high,” Butler said. “We got belief that we can do something incredibly special. So we’re gonna hit the ground running when we get to Denver, and I like our chances.”

“We have a bunch of guys that just love competition. Just drop us off anywhere and compete for it,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Put ourselves out there, open to all the criticism and everything… We don’t care what the rest of the world is saying. We don’t care who is criticizing who. You’ve got to line up between these four lines and let’s figure this out.”
